My brother told me he was watching some fishing show recently on TV where the wardens ran a "sting" on the Columbia river. I didnt see the show and I havent looked up the regs on this, so Im just passing along what my bro told me - which, knowing him - may or may not be accurate
Anyway, he said the wardens stopped their boat on the river with the blue lights flashing like they were ticketing another boat. If some other boat passed them and created a wake, they got stopped and given a ticket.
He said there is a rule that if a warden or police boat is stopped with its lights flashing, you are required to slow down to a no wake speed.
I hadn't heard of this rule, but it makes perfectly good sense to me from a safety point of view. Just like having to change lanes and slow down when passing a trouper that has someone pulled over on the hwy. Plus its got to be hard writing a ticket when getting tossed around by a big wake
Anyone else see that show or know of that rule?
