Do any of you guys use a shuttle hawk for stacking downrigger lines?
What are your opinions and techniques?
I have used one for Kokanee, it worked ok I guess…I caught fish....
I used a clip 10 feet above my ball to stop the shuttle hawk from going down any further… I have heard some people use scotty electric auto stop bead to stop the shuttle hawk.
I took the shuttle hawk release clip off and put a scotty one on.
Do you guys use them for salmon? Heading to Baker Lake and Lake Wenatchee in a few weeks…

Re: Shuttle Hawk
I bought one and never used it. still sitting on the boat. I have electric dr so just easy to push the button up and down. Might have to give it a try on Baker this weekend, I would say it would work fine for salmon its just taking your line down to a certain depth is all.

Re: Shuttle Hawk
I've used the store bought one several times for Kokanee with mixed success. I used an auto stop clip as you mentioned. I made my own version that was a little larger for the salt water and it worked good, but added blow back to the cable. I think if your needing to stack lines and are looking for simplicity then they are good. Just remember: If you have electric downriggers, the shuttle hawk will reach your downrigger boom BEFORE the auto stop clip!! BAD!
Forgiveness is between them and God. My job is to arrange the meeting!

Re: Shuttle Hawk
I use the Scotty quick clips for stacking with Cannon Mag 10 electrics because the clips are QUICK to take off to get to the bottom release. Shuttle Hawks are just another gimmick to catch fishermen IMHO....
