Exactly Trackerpro.. the X is off and you have to pull it over. It’s real aggressive (if a pop up can be called aggressive)TrackerPro16 wrote:That ‘Player’ one is sort of looks like what mine is but the bigger one is part way off the screen. The part with the ‘X’ in it.

Re: Sponsors hurting site
Just had a big ad for the Cayman Islands! No X on it anywhere. Bikini clad girl. Still can’t get my download site to work.

Re: Sponsors hurting site
I had a fishing report for today nearly finished using my phone (no small task!) when the big pop up ad appeared. No ‘X’ or any way I could see to get rid of it. Dumped the screen and my unfinished report to get rid of it. Not inclined to try that again.
Re: Sponsors hurting site
So....about that ad.. not sure what's causing it, but it's not from our website. We removed all forum based advertising when we launched the new site. Every "popup" (they don't pop, in any direction) ad from our bottom sticky banner ad provider has the X to close it. That ad having the forum in the background tells me something else, likely some extension you have installed, is causing it.

Re: Sponsors hurting site
Huh. Only happens on this site. It covers up the little one on the bottom (which does not really bother me) and I can not move it but it moves with the NWFR screen. Any suggestions?
Re: Sponsors hurting site
Open 2 browsers, 1 that you know has the issue, and another one from another company, and do synchronized browsing for a bit until you see it. I'll wager you only see it in one browser. Then disable all extensions for that browser, then re-enable them until you find the culprit.
i.e if you're using Chrome, open IE or Firefox and browse until you see it.

Ok, I will admit my lack of computer knowlege. I have no idea what ‘extension’s’ are. I guess I could (if I can figure out what they are and where they are) just dump them for this site since the ad only appears on this site? Or maybe remove the site and re load it?

What browser are you using?

Phone. I just got the report to go. The ‘big ad’ did not appear until screen before ‘submit’ and I could scroll up to get to the ‘submit’ button. When I hit ‘submit’ the big ad dissappeared.
Re: Sponsors hurting site
If you'll notice the little icons on the top left and bottom right of the ads... I clicked on one and it took me to some google help pages which ultimately led me to this tool which can scan your browser and cookies and let you opt out of browser tracking. Perhaps this will help if you opt out of these companies ad trackers. Perhaps the ad wont be able to find you.

Go there, let it scan and then opt out of everything. It can't hurt and appears safe, and was a link provided by Google themselves.
