Geez. That makes the 50G feat seem impossible. Thanks for the info. As a preteen, I can do a lot of things for $5.gpc wrote:between $4-$6 I think. Its something like $4 a piece for the first 100 then $5 a piece for 101 to 200 and so on

When gas comes down from 3.50 a gallon it might be worth it....Between trailering and driving the boat and tackle, thats pretty darn expensive..

"For every northern pikeminnow 9 inches or longer returned to a registration station, anglers will receive $4-$8. The more fish an angler catches, the more they're worth: the first 100 in one season are worth $4 each; after 100, they're worth $5 each; and after 400 they're worth $8 each. Special tagged northern pikeminnow will be worth $500 again this year. "iPodrodder wrote:About how much do they pay you per squaw?

Was just at Lake Entiat on the Columbia in Wenatchee. We took the scouts to the Rocky Reach Dam for a tour and the tour guide was telling me that they will pay you $17-18 an hour to sit there off the dam and catch them. That might be interesting because I plan on going to Banks Lake for Walleyes this summer and that might be a good way to pay for the trip.
I have never met a fish yet that respected a big purchase. You can own a $100 boat or you can own a $30,000 boat. You might be more comfortable, but don't expect any fish to care about your investment.

How did you do? I once had one on using a 14" squawfish. It was spoolin me before it came unbottoned as if I had a Chinook on the other end. I'm not even sure if it was a mack.Sam Kafelafish wrote:I've only fished for squawfish to use for bait for lake trout...Nightcrawlers seemed to do fine...

The joy of squawfish is you don't need to be deep, or out in the middle of the channel, or really try too hard.
Just find a nice slack area of the current and stick something mildly stinky or sparkly on the hook and wait a few seconds. You thought Sculpins and bullheads were bad on the Columbia - ? - Start actively targeting squawfish (sorry, northern pikeminnow) and you can see why if you're retired or otherwise have lots of time on your hands, it ain't too hard to make a few thousand at it.
To make a living entirely on it would require a lot of time, but think of it this way: Over a two day weekend you catch 150 pikeminnow, 110 are over the starting mark.... that's still $440.00 cash.
Do that twice a month and it's still almost $900 a month income - to fish!
Take away about $200 a month for gas, supplies and food, and you still got $700 cash in hand.
You don't need to make a fortune at it, but it aint hard to make a profit.....
I've caught more than my fair share of 18"+ squawfish in under 4 ft of water on the Columbia, Deep, or Naselle rivers..... I am almost unsure if it is almost a shame they don't pay by the pound...

Does the payout include tributaries to the Columbia? We have a place on the Pend Oreille River and my kids and I catchem' all the time.

Ditto: I had a monster on at Pend Oreille. I couldn't reel him in. After a minute of taking line he came unbuttoned. It turned out He bit the minnow (14" by the way) and he missed my double hook set. His teeth marks were huge.Sam Kafelafish wrote:I've only fished for squawfish to use for bait for lake trout...Nightcrawlers seemed to do fine...
I just noticed I already wrote about this. Sorry to be redundant.

Everybody say "CHEESE!" I can't tell you how much squawfish love cheese. And breadballs if you can keep them on the hook.
