oddest thing ever pulled from a fish stomach

Post by beerman1981 » Thu May 22, 2008 10:56 pm

About a month ago I fished Rufus for the first time and went home with my limit of two. One of the fish I cleaned had a belly that was completely filled with gravel, and not all small gravel, some was decent sized. I will attach a picture. It got me thinking, what is the weirdest thing you guys have ever found in the stomach of a fish. Mine would have to be the gravel, but I have also found power bait/ power eggs in many bellies.

I'd have to say a fly strike indicator (the bobber type) along with the actual fly.

When I was at Rufus, a fish spit out a whole prawn (like one you would use for steelhead) and was full with pellet food and when I cleaned it he had a 1/0 hook in his stomach.

Then the first time I went to Rufus me and my cosuin were sitting about 10' a part and caught the same hungry trip.

These arnt the wierdest things, but you said Rufus and that got my wheels turning. I will have to get back to you on this one

Up at Erie Lake, near Anacortes, my buddy and I were catching trout whose bellies felt like beanbags. We solved the mystery while cleaning the fish later that day. They had gorged themselves on snails.

That's funny dilbert.

I was fishing golf courses yes. And I believe the bass we were catching just assumed the golf balls were food. We did not eat them or cut them open, but a couple we pulled up were bloated and you could feel the golf balls in their stomach. In the stomachs of trout I have found plenty of hooks and line, and rocks.

I found 5 salamanders in an alpine lake trout once, that was a little odd. Tried fishing with salamanders at the same lake the next year and didn't have any luck. I could see a fish gulping down 1 or 2, but 5 was a bit much I thought.
