8.47lbs Smallmouth caught in Columbia River
Here is pic of MONSTER Bronzeback caught recently in Columbia River near mouth of Snake River. It weighed 8.47lbs and was caught by Wade Ralston. JWerner mentioned it was posted on board at Sportsmans Warehouse in Tri Cities and I found pic online. Bad news is that the fish was kept and killed. That sucks because a SM this big must have been OLD and put up one hell of a fight! I only wish it had been released to fight another day but as in C&R thread, everyone has their own rights.
Reports say he has been tight lipped other than it was caught on a tube.
What a PIGGIE!!!

Of course I have to see that after I just caught my PB SMB#-o ... That is one huge bass and only 4.48oz off the state record. Even though he wasn't released, I am sure he had a very, very good run.

Beautiful fish. Can't really blame the guy for wanting to keep it but it's too bad a big fish like that can't be kept alive some place in a large aquarium for public display. I'm not sure but I think it is now illegal to transport a live game fish. Anyway, I think it would be safe to say that there many state record largemouth and smallmouth swimming around in the huge reservoirs of the Columbia River -- And, hopefully a WL member will catch one. Will be looking for the photos.

A nice bass is too valuable a resource to enjoy catching only once.

I hear ya Bob. Everyone has the right to C&R or keep the fish.
