RE:What's in a name?
Well, fishing and collecting are my two most favorite things. I have collected auto polish tins for 15 years and have over 800 tins from 1900 to 1950... all different. I love to fish and collect vintage fishing gear also... hence the name. I didn't think "Waxwhiz" would work here.

Fly Fishing is the art of attaching a fake bug to a line and relying on the appropriate manipulation of the rod to deceive the fish into eating a sharp steel hook covered with feathers and fur.

RE:What's in a name?
I came up with mine because of the Geico commercial ... of course they don’t have biscuits and gravy ... but if they did ... Was something that made me just laughs. I guess it is just one of those things. I use the name as my Xbox360 Gamer Tag as well. I used to use TheJaytrix. My name is Jay and one of my favorite movies is The Matrix but I have grown older and wiser so a gecko talking about biscuits and gravy is what gets me now ... laughs!
'course they don't have biscuits and gravy ... but if they did, I bet everyone would eat there.

RE:What's in a name?
I am in no way a crappie master. I love to fish for them though and would rather fish for them more than any other fish. One day I was walleye fishing with my dad and we were doing pretty good and we get a call on our cell that a friend of ours was fishing at crow Butte and had caught a few nice crappie. I made my dad take me to shore and I drove 25 miles down river to get in on the action. My friend and I decided to have a little wager on who would catch the most and I won and at he started calling me crappiemaster. Hey mallard83, where do you do most of your duck hunting? I love to waterfowl, as well.

RE:What's in a name?
All right...why not.
A few years back, I started a webcast fishing show. It was great, until the hosting bills started coming....boy, do I need sponsors for that!!
Anyway, I needed a good name for the show....something that fit my style of fishing. Well being a bit....how do i put this....."non-traditional", I needed something good. Well, Rolland is my middle name, and a helluva good name to have in the fishing world (thanks to Mr. Martin for that one), except I have two L's instead of one. So, for marketing purposes I decided Rolland had to be in there. Also, to appeal to others like myself (another marketing decision, "target audience") I need something different than "fishing with Joe Public". (alliteration is also very catchy)
Rollin with Rolland was born.
If I could put a 1 GB video file on here, I would give everyone a sample of one of my pilots. So, that's on the back burner still, but funding is an issue.
So, if you are ever in my boat fishing with me (aka "guiding") , then YOU are Rollin with Rolland!!!! (limp bizkits "Rollin" is my opening theme song, cause I'm rollin, rollin, rollin....

If you can upload the video on to Google or some other host, I sure would like to see it. I'm positive others are interested as well.

RE:What's in a name?
interesting thread
at the time I registered I was in a fad of lighter is better. for example I was using a 5' 6" noodle rod and 4lb for all my lake fishing even trout that averaged 17-23in. I also landed a few 2lb bass. I would also use a spinning rod w/10lb for bottomfishing. one day I cought a 10lb cabazon on that 10lb ande line. now looking back at it I wish I would have came up with something better "big fish lite line" is kinda tacky

You can never catch fish if your line isn't in the water - you don't know if you don't go

RE:What's in a name?
I was given the handle BROWNBOMBER while I was in the Navy 80-84 by my 1st Class Petty Officer,..he was my Boxing Coach and said I reminded him of Joe Louis,..I've used it all my adult life and have it on my 64 T-Bird plate BRNBOMR,..I joined WL this year and found with that handle many thought that I only targeted German Brown Trout,..since crossing over 2 the Dark Side I decided 2 change my handle 2 BassinBomber,..seemed appropriate 2 me!

I've been wearing my handle for nearly 8 decades - Mom and Dad gave it to me
A nice bass is too valuable a resource to enjoy catching only once.

I use to live on a nice piece of property on the Northfork of the Stilli. Actually found 2 puppies trapped under a overhang of the river bank on Easter. There names became Northfork and Stilly aka The Boys.

RE:What's in a name?
Crappie because they are my favorite fish to target and 007, well
that comes from james bond and all his gadgets. When I started fishing for
crappie I found myself buying new electronics, special fishing line etc.

RE:What's in a name?
Splitshot just came to me one night.
Anything with "shot" in it sounds pretty cool, "straight shot", "Shot shell", "Buck shot" etc.. But now my name means a tiny bit of lead pinched to a line...Oh well.
I like it when my handle gets abbreviated to "Splits"- Kinda goes with my Gemini personality.

The Quadfather.... I collect 1970's stereo gear. For a time I was into Quadraphonic receivers. I was on a Quad forum. Everybody had weird "Quad" type online names. I became Quadradomus kind of like Nastradaumus.. because the Quadfather was taken. Now that I am on walakes.com I figure the true Quadfather won't know I'm here. One day I may move into Quadzilla.

RE:What's in a name?
I like this thread. Anyways, I was thinkin' one night and it hit me. salmonslayer. Well, it had already been taken so I had to put my personal touch on it. I'm a teamster and 117's my local and as far as salmonslayer, that's just what I love to do! There's just something about tying into a 30+ lb king and fightin' him all the way in! Love my lakefishin' too! Heck, I just love fishin' PERIOD!
