Isla Mujeres sailfish trip
Took a little jaunt down to Mexico a week ago and did a little fishing while I was there. Thought it'd be a nice change of pace to be warm while fishing, and see what kinda little pipsqueaks they have to hook up.
This pic was taken just before we had a QUINTUPLE hookup. 3 were on, one had just hit the port rigger line, and the captains line over my head was seconds away from getting a strike.
Cute little fellers:
All water released except two fish which were either tailhooked or tail wrapped. This one left unscathed:
These things are entirely too much fun to catch!
In all, 21 hookups, 15 were brought to the boat and released. Did I mention this was in 4.5 hours?

Wow Gisteppo,
Great trip & photos. I’m hoping to do that sometime soon.
If you don't mind me asking, how did you post those photos with captions between them?

Bragging may not bring happiness, but no man having caught a large fish goes home through an alley.

The island is Isla Mujeres, which is a 20 min ferry ride from Cancun on the tip of the Yucatan. Its some of the best sailfishing in the area, right there with Costa Rica and Panama. The spot where you were catching barracuda was only a few miles south of where we left for the open waters.
When you are posting photos, post your [img] tag, then pop a line or two between them and just type like a normal post. Makes it so that you can put subheadings or captions in a post.
You can charter local mexican boats that cost $750 for the boat for the day and can accommodate 4 guys, which is decent on a budget. Sometimes they have older worn equipment that doesn't hold up very well. We went big dollar ( I was with 3 big money business owners) and chartered one of the Carolina Sportfishers from NC for $1800 for the day. Pricey, but got us right on top of the fish instantly, in comfort, with fantastic gear.
