I know! A few more blanks won't hurt. At least it'll be summer and I'll have a good excuse to get sunburned and spill a few brews down the back of my throat. With me, it really is "fishing" not "catching". But at least I can admit it and am willing to learn, make mistakes and PRESS ON!!

I dunno about you guys, but I'm thinking the lower skagit is going to be a ZOO for these pigs...combat fishing at it's finest...???

Boats anchoring just down-stream of other boats, lines and lines of guys on the sandbar crossing lines...

We've got some real grumps up here in Skagit Co...I'm looking forward to the run, but not too sure it's going to be "fun in the sun!"

The open area on the lower river is going to be combat fishing at its finest. Grumpy old timers who remember how it fished 15+ years ago and don't have a clue newbies are going to have "issues".

Was down on the skagit this afternoon looking at some places to fish for the kings, and the Indians were down there with nets strung all the way across the river... What a nice sight.

Before trucking all the way up to the Cascade call Holiday Market in Burlington and get a report. As many know the fishing up there has been horrid. Unless it has picked up in the last week or so I'd wait until Thursday and fish the wild king opener. I have seen pics of some incidental catches of wild kings. They are in there.

I just got word that the netting activity in the lower river has really limited the number of fish seen up river (obvious). now I'm excited to fish and pi$$ed3d off at the same time.

GOOD LUCK!!

Cascade has been pure crap, call up to the marblemout hatchery for their numbers and you might think twice about it (unless, as said, it have picked up considerably in the last week). Soon as those nets are out the lower section is gunna fill up with fish, guarantee it! Let the natives get their take, once their nets are out a while there will be plenty to go round.

Although we had a wonderful day on the water, the fishing on the lower Skagit for wild chinook was less than stellar. There were no fish rolling and we never saw a fish on the meter. As we were pulling out of the water at Blake’s we talked to the WSFG biologist and he said there was one fish caught in the whole system. A jack was caught up at the pipeline in SW. There was a lot of speculation that the gillnets cleaned out the lower river. I am not sure if that is the case and I think that we may be early in the run. If the fish were in the area they would have been moving into the river with the high tide and that didn’t happen.
