How To Get To Boat Launch At American Lake?

I read a post somewhere that said it had 2 launches. A fee one ($10), and a free one.

Dont know the area at all, so was hoping for directions to either one. Or is one "better" than the other?

PS, American allows gas motors right?

Hey FF...I believe that may have been my report.
- Take the Gravelly Lake exit off I-5
- Head west on Gravelly Lake (for approx 1 mi)
- Turn left onto Veterans Dr (for approx 1 mi)
- Turn left into boat launch (next left AFTER the park)

ps. just a heads up...the left turn onto Veterans is a little narrow...be cautious if a vehicle is stopped past their white line waiting to turn left.
No worries...have fun...and yes motors are allowed...and actually by the time your done fishing, you may wish they weren't! (jet skiers etc) LM?O

The second launch is on the other side of the lake. It is a WDFW free launch. Take the Berkley Exit. (Madigan Exit) and Hang a Right. (Assuming you are Southbound I5). Go straight and follow the signs to the left at the end of the road. The Vetereans drive launch is brand new and nicer. They both can get crowded.

I will say that the free launch is a little easier to find but be careful I have heard of alot crime problems there. I haven't checked out the new launch since they fixed it up, but if its 10$ I doubt I will be launching there.

Welp, I had plans on going there tomorrow morning, but work just called. Maybe in the evening then....

Make sure not to leave anything of value in your vehicle at the free launch. A few buddies of mine have been car prowled there. At the launch off of veterans drive i see alot more police presence. Hope this helps

Whatcha fishing for on American???

I live about 2min from the lake and haven't got anything from it. I see allot of fish coming out of there though. Hmmmm maybe it's me then...

There is 2 other launches on the lake but you need military access to get to them. One is on Camp Murray and the other is by the Marina on North Ft Lewis.
Also note that the free launch has no dock. Sure wish there was one.
