Cool list! Just wanted to add Panther Lake (half Mason / half Kitsap never quite sure how to refer to it) to the list. And by the way, Pine Lake has some freaking lobsters in it. iPodRodder called them Louisiana crawfish, I didn't know that's the name for them but they are bright red and big!!!!

Dont forget where ever you catch Crawdads in Wa state .Remember to wash them off before cooking.I wash them and make sure there are no holes in the shells.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

Great advice racfish.

And david, stay off my lake man! Panther has no bass. And is polluted. I wouldn't eat anything out of there. :-"

One of my favorite lakes to fish. Haven't ever seen a crayfish but I figured they had to be around.

Thanks for all the additional info. guys. This thread has been very cool and I'm glad it keeps going.

Dustin,

No way! I am all about the crawfish. Yesterday I was in the Sammamish river (slough) between LK. Samm. and Lk. WA. Saw crawfish while I was putting in. I just need to back with my traps. There is a Washington state crawfish club/website that was just put up a month ago by a guy who is on this forum. I'll send you a link to it when I get home. Unfortuneatley it hasn't taken off with members yet. If you have a hot lake you don't mind sharing (crawfish) PM me.

Hey guys, I normally don't catch the crawdads around here, except for fun, but noticed something new at Pine lake yesterday while launching the boat. There is a new WDFW sign posted by the launch that warns of the Red Swamp crayfish being an invasive species, so clean your gear and do not transport this species.
I didn't know crayfish were an invasive species, but I guess, like fish, there can be different strains that push out others? Anyhow, anyone else here of this before? I looked on the WDFW website and they listed a dozen different crayfish strains that are considered invasive. Never knew. Seems like they clean up the debris on the bottom and make a good food source for fish, so why would they be considered bad? Do they push out the native crayfish?
Here is the link to the website:

Thats interesting Bentrod. They should have special regs for that lake no size limit and you don't have to release the egg carriers...

Thanks for the link Quadfather. Crayfish have always interested me. Especially since I've never been particularily succesful.

How did it go? We like to catch them at Cranberry Lake, Island County, while were camping. We usually do better catching them manually with worm on a hook than in the trap. They'll grab the worm and if you raise it slowly you can pull them up and over a bucket. Keeps the kids busy for hours and we all have a blast hunting them.
