T MOBILE CELL PHONE

Does anyone have a T Mobile Phone that you are willing to Sell ! I found out that once you submerge these phones in water it's no different than breaking it in half ..lol.. Anywho thats my deal , i drowned mines on lake sammamish yesterday and i need a "PHONE" !! If anyone can help out , just shoot me a PM !!

Dez...before you bail out and buy another phone, you might give this a try to save the old one...

Remove the battery and place the phone, battery and battery cover in a ziplock bag with a good sized bag of dessicant.
You should be able to pick some up at most marinas or boat equp. shops. Don't use the loose desicant, make sure it'n in its own non plastic bag. Zip the bag up...leave it over night.
I have saved many a phone and Blackberry with this technique at work.
Not always fool proof...but it's worth a try.

WOW , iv learned a new word today "dessicant" !! tell me more about this product and what it does ! how much is it ? how much do i need? Im proberly gonna have another phone by morning for it is my Lifeline ..lol But im tring to be patient before going to the freaking Tmobile store here in bellevue .. I called and was told it would cost me $140.00 to replace mine with a new one .. Im just wanting to see if i can save a few pennies !

Hey Dez,..next time it happens,..and it might,..before you try and use it 2 see if it still works,..shut it down and let it dry out,..usually it will work,..this happened 2 me at Potholes just a couple of weekends ago,..I dropped it in the water when I was beaching my boat then I turned it off right away and took out the battery and the Sim Card and let it sit in the sun,..after a few I took it 2 the restroom and put it under the blow-dryer 2 finish it up,..works fine now,..I may have gotten lucky but it sure beat the cost 2 replace from the insurance,..you can also set it submerged in some uncooked rice and that will suck the moisture out of it,..I did it with my IPod,..just a thought!

This works surprisingly well, one thing to know is that even if you phone comes back to life the "moisture sensor" will still be tripped so if you send your phone in for whatever repair/service in the future they will reject it.

That's a tough one to get around, they now have them on the batteries too.

Yeah i noticed that also , the strip use to be white now it's red , on the phone and on the battery also ( S.O.L) ..

Sorry...I miss spelled it ...

The word of the day is... Desiccant - a drying agent (as calcium chloride)

You know those little bags of clear or white pellets you find packed in just about everything these days?
That's what they are. They draw moisture from anything around them.

I don't know what they cost since I get them here at work for free. They come in 1/2 pound bags that is in the composite material we use here. They get thrown in a pile and either taken by employees or thrown away. Lots of guy throw them a few of them in their boats when storing for the winter. I use them to save phones and Blackberry's. (part of my job)

One reason I use that instead of rice is that the rice can flake as it dries and some of those flakes can find their way into the bowels of your phone. The desiccant is in a paper-like bag and sucks the water right out of the phones....even from the screen.

I don't use a hair dryer, due to the heat concern.

I'm not saying any other system won't work...I'm just letting you know what has worked numerous times for me.

You could make your own desiccant pack as well..

1. Go to hobby store(Michaels..etc..) and buy flower drying crystals/powder.

2. Place some of the crystals in a coffee filter.

3. Fold edges and staple the coffee filter so no crystals leak out.

4. Place homemade desiccant bag and phone with batter bay open in ziplock bag.

5. Leave overnight and see if it works.

Thanks for all the helpful advise and tips guys !! I got the phone sitting in rice currently and if that doesnt work im going in the lab and try what others have said .. Rice will work but silica gell packs work better.I dried out my phone after dropping in Lk Wa with a hair dryer.If you still need a T mobile phone I got one for ya.
