hey, sounds like the call we get every month from the Donations for the Blind charity. Nicest people, just ask if we have anything, and if no they say thank you and are on their way.Marc Martyn wrote:I get one about every month that I really don't mind. They keep calling back and each time I am polite to them, because they are polite to me and not pushy. It is from the Arc of Spokane telling me they will have a truck in my neighbor and ask it there is anything we would like to donate. I tell them not at this time and they say thank you and hang up.

Yea I gave clothes to ARC all the time when I had a land line. It's like goodwill that comes so you, so it's a pretty good deal. Plus I always have secondhand stuff that I don't need anymore lying around, I'm a bit of a collector when it comes to that aorta thing.Mike Carey wrote:hey, sounds like the call we get every month from the Donations for the Blind charity. Yessir! You're right about collections. My wife worked for three years in the legal department of one of the biggest agencies in the state and I know all about debt collecting. I don't hassle collectors, but on account of we have damn near perfect credit (comes with the territory after figuring out that you just need to pay your bills on time and not spend more than you have) the only collectors that call are from people with names similar to ours, or trying to track down the kids who had our apartment before us. I usually help 'em out by giving them the info that I can.Bigbass Dez wrote:flinginpooh wrote:I second that. Get rid of telemarketers and bill colectors all together. If your job is to call people and bug them for a living you should be ashamed of yourselfs. Walk downtown seattle turn down one of the piers and keep on walking. Dont mind the edge your getting close to just walk faster if it makes ya feel better. I know it would me. Ty for allowing my rant of the week.
Im a Collections Manager for my mothers collections firm here in bellevue, wa !
Please feel free to pm me if you would like a better understanding of how our company prevents job loss ,prevents wage reductions , prevents company downsizing due to outstanding debts on companies books , etc .
when people dont pay there debts everything listed above is how it impacts those companies in the long run . So as "annoying" as it may be that we have to demand $ from debtors , consider agencies like our as "heros of society" for doing the dirty work on other companies behalf .
Secondly its also important you know that bad debt from most companies only repersents less than 15% of there , the accounts receivable the other 85% are the people who do in fact pay on time and or when they agreed to pay .
In summary , NO !!! Im not ashamed of the services we provide if anything the people that owe $ should take a good look in mirror and remind themselves that the only bad person involved is most likey the person who lie about there initial intentions to begin with.
Be thankful that your being contacted by a collections agency because the truth of matter is that you could have just been flat out sued and had your wages garnished.

I'm talking bout the cold calls from comcast, or windows, or roofing/cabinet contractors, medical surveys, sattelite tv, rock chipped auto glass folks, republicans or democrats, people trying to sell stuff. Those are the folks I hassle. If it were the collection agencies, my wife'd be mildly perturbed. Heheheh.
