I would expect this scenario: call and they will give you directions to come look at the boat. You will arrive at a place that sells boats. They will not offer you the boat you saw on Craigslist and will insist on showing you expensive boats.

Those boats cost much, much more than those prices.

Or they might be stolen. I saw on the news where a couple bought a car from a craigslist ad even ran it through car fax, which turned up fine, and then went to license it to find out that it was stolen. Of course the dude with the money was gone.

How these things work is that they of course don't live here, they probably moved and trying to sell the boat over the phone, they'll want you to send them a check or money gram for half the sales and that's all you'll here from them.

the email address in the first add is showing hits as a scammer when doing an internet search. AND the story includes the boat your looking at. I say SCAM!

Kzoo sounds really correct on his theory. That boat new must be at least 15 grand. The motor alone is 5 grand. If you go look, pack .Im not trying to promote violence but this looks like theyd love you to show up with cash.Then a bonk in the head.

thats what I was thinking. I was wondering if they left a digit off the price or something but scam makes more sense.


although I do hate that on CL when people market a $500,000 house for $50k intentionally to get it to come up on your lower end searches. Who shopping for a $50k cabin is going to spring for $500k? definitely not your target market, leave them alone.

These are no diffrent than the email scams for winning the national lotery or someone off shore acount that some ong lost unce had and you are the only sole servior.

If it looks to good to be true, it probably is. The motors on those boats are worth more than what they are asking.

This is "fishy" from the get go. The first thing that caught my eye is where is the boat trailer license plate. Not even a holder. Who zip ties keys to a steering wheel? The boat is shown in a remote unidentifiable place. The truck that hauled it there is most likely parked way ahead of it across the lot. The truck plates appear to be from Arizona. The location of the sale is posted at Sheldon? Come on!

To good to be true, then it probably is, that outboard costs much more than that along. I see this with cars all the time as well, same car is posted in Seattle, Minneapolis, Portland and Chicago and is posted for 1/4 or less of what its worth. When dealing with CL use cash only with face to face transaction to avoid all scams.

That's why if you're doing that, you always do the checking out of stuff or selling/buying at a place where there are lots of people so that kind of stuff doesn't happen. Guess some things you can't really do it like exercise machine but anything like that I'd meet the person in a parking lot where there's lots of people.

stuff like this is happening on cl all the time it use to be a good site but they don't have the staff to check on every post so now its a lot of scams my brother try to get job off of there and it was a scam they try to get him to cash checks i think they try to get his bank account info but luckly they caught it at the bank if you to check any thing out on there ether do it in a place where theres a lot of people around or bring some type of protection like a gun or tazer or something there was a guy just the other day went to meet some one in a parking lot to check something out and the people try to rob him but when they knock him down he pulled his gun out and keep them there tell cops came

Craigslist should't be bashed for this,..it could of happened on any site that does this type of advertising,..I use CL all the time and have never had an issue,..one just has 2 be very careful as with anything in life,..JM2Pennies!

I think alot of it is common sense. These days there seems to be a lack there of. The economy is in the hole so everyone wants and is looking for something for nothing. No one can afford alot these day`s. But I still use my head. I`ve also met and sold alot of things on craigslist and never had any trouble.
