Bald Eagles Shot!

Post by AJ's Dad » Fri Jan 18, 2013 6:13 pm

If someone else has posted this already I have not seen it here yet. I just found this on MSN.

I certainly hope the reward money entices someone to turn in their buddy. I would bet whoever shot these eagles has bragged about it to someone. With the reward up over $13000 it would be awsome to hear that someone turned in his pal for shooting them.

It's been on tv and Ch 4's web page the past couple/3 days. Hope they get caught, and soon.

I don't understand why somebody would do that? Gotta be a stupid kid? There's a show called shameless where a kid shoots one.... Just nonsense.

That is awful. Last year a little kokanee i tried to let go on Angle wasn't doing well and one of the pairing bald eagles on the lake swooped down and nabbed it, it was one of the coolest things i've seen out fishing. My bud and i were in awe and didn't think to film it, it happened ~20-25ft from us! Helped me feel a little better about that koke too!
Hope they catch the person who did this and the penalities and jail time apply for each bird.

I fished with on the other day. He was hanging out on the bank about ten feet away from me and my dog Lady. Fearless. Of course he was eating guts from the bank, but he was pretty darn awesome, great fishing buddy.

I bet "lady" was eyeballing the big bird! Bald Eagle was so big, lady was intimidated?

Lady isn't afraid of anything. She wasn't sure whether to play with it or chase it, so she just sat next to it and watched it. Then she did sorta get jealous because she also wanted to play with the rotten fish guts and gave the bird a little growl. The eagle was unphased.

There was another eagle today as we floated down the stilly that followed our pontoons. It was really neat. I'm a big fan of eagles.

eagles are a pain in the butt duck hunting up north. I've seen them steal more ducks than I care to count. How do you count that against your bag limit? Um... shot 2 ducks, Eagle steals 1... how many do I have? lol

other than being the national bird, which is important... they aren't on the endangered or even threatened list anymore I dont think.

a year or two ago I remember a local farmer had to euthanize his horse and eagles got to it that day or the next. I think 6 got sick, I don't remember if any died.

No argument that they are one of the coolest birds though... (after old squaw and harlequin ducks ;))

despite being an awesome animal sometimes it seems like natural selection is working against it... lol
