Seward Park
So last weekend I moved to a southish Seattle neighborhood. not to far from seward park. I have tried to find information online (though not very hard I will admit) regarding fishing at this large and nice to visit park. Am I allowed to just grab a spot on any bank and start casting? Can I launch my raft at any old place and float around the park? I saw a few areas that looked like they would have a good chance of either bass or Panfish and I want to try them out this weekend (and take my fiance fishing for the first time ever on free fishing weekend.) Thanks!

RE:Seward Park
I have fished from shore at the park, I'm pretty certain there is no restriction, of course watch for any signs posted, but always check the regs. there shouldn't be anything. As far as your inflatable, if your talking about like a little 2 man sevlor raft?? If you can hand carry it to where you put in at, then you are probably fine. I think that you would have to have a real up-tight parks dept. official, to bust your chops and call that a problem. But of course if it is anything above that, you should use a launch. There is one about 1-2 miles south of the park.

It is just a little 2 person inflatable. I am hoping to do be able to do this. Sounds like it should be smooth sailing for me for the most part. Last few times I have been at the park I have not seen hardly anyone in the area fishing. A lot of boats but no one fishing. I figure if I stay inside the Bouy line it should not be a problem. Thanks Quad!

I live just across the street from Seward Park.Ive lived there my entire life and fish Andrews Bay quite a bit.Lots of trout jumping but when I fish it it is mostly 6-10" trout. For me too small to keep.Bass fishing is good in the bay. There are crappie bluegill and perch everywhere. The only restrictions are that if you catch alot of fish you must tell me where you caught them.RCW102.420...Good luck.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.

Thanks for the great tips. Hopefully it wont be to busy out there with other fishermen, I just want to find a nice place on the shore and take turns casting with my fiance. per your advice I think we will start out in that Bay. Will be a good weekend to relax!

going to be out at seward park tomorrow morning. fishing from the shore if anyone sees me feel free to say hi (probably wearing my green jacket - I will be the guy who looks frustrated and like he doesn't know what he is doing!)

You can usually find good spots just north of Seward Park and in the little bay across from the public restrooms (north side of the park entrance). There's lily pads around most of the shoreline there and I used to fish that area pretty regularly when I lived in Rainier Beach. There are places to park along the lakefront, just head up toward where the hydroplane races start.
Now that the water is warming up, you might get some topwater action in the pads. Plastic frogs and lizards would be a good bet, and throwing spinnerbaits in the big gaps between the pads should entice a few out for a bite.
You should look into a float tube - there are some really good spots right through there where a tube would put you in the middle of the action, and there aren't many water skiiers or wakeboarders who come that close to the shore right there. I've hooked a few good sized ones right there along the pad beds.
Good luck :thumleft:

I pulled about a 1.5 lb Smallie from the lillypads just south of The Pits {Hydros} near the swimming area,..I was on my boat though but the pads can be hit from the bank,..I was using my Panther Martin Weedless Frog,..lil guy exploded the water and hit the frog after about two turns on my reel,...there's a ton of places to fish from the shoreline and I've never heard of any restrictions,..but like quadradomus said,..watch for signs! Keep tossin that line!
