Thanks for the report man. Reports have been saying fishing has been slow, but that can change within a few days...Lets hope we are starting to see fishing pick up and not just a one day spike in the catches....The first few days of the Area 9 clipped king season were darn hot last year. I can't remember what the trends were for the more southern parts of the sound last year, but I know the fish are there this year.

Will be up north in Area 9 from Thursday night through Monday night. Then back up next weekend, I sure hope the quota isn't filled, otherwise it's CnR the kings (which isn't a bad thing, as long as I'm fishing for salmon, I'm happy) and try and find some resident silvers....

Planning on putting in at least 8 hours of trolling per day, crabbing in between. I'll report back with a report later, and hopefully lots of pictures of fish and a fridge full of fresh fillets....

Try and release those small 22"-26" clipped blackmouth fellas. 50%, or more of the quota was consumed by those sized fish, let those guys back to grow and try and get those 7-8+ lbers or even more. 15+lb clipped kings aren't uncommon there. Lets try and extend this season out longer, the best king fishing up in Area 9 was in the first week of August. I had to turn a lot of big (clipped and wild) fish back b/c the quota was full, lets try and keep the quota open for a while and be able to fill it with good sized kings.....
