I currently use a 7' MH casting rod as my "general" rod that I do mostly everything on. Casting spinnerbaits, jigs, dropshot, senkos, jigging for salmon, etc.
I know there is a lot of talk about different rods and different methods but I haven't personally felt I was at a disadvantage with my rod for anything. Maybe its because I'm new to bass fishing and it requires more knowledge...but one baitcaster and one spinning has served me well for awhile.
What is your go-to general all purpose rod and reel?

RE:General all-purpose rods
personally I could not use one rod for all my fishing because during lingcod season I fish with up to a pound of weight and depths of 250ft. when i fish for trout on the other hand i need to be able to cast an 1/8th ounce spinner 40yds. rods are sort of like people some are a jack of all trades but a master of none. on the other hand I do think it it kind of ridicules the specialized bass rods made for every specific technique.
