Dog Lake (61 acres): Located just east of White Pass along Highway 12, this high elevation lake doesn't start producing well until early June. Fishing is good throughout the summer for 7- to 10-inch rainbow and brook trout. A large Forest Service campground and rough boat launch are located adjacent to the lake.

King County's Dolloff lake covers 21 surface acres and reaches depths of about 19 feet. This stained water lake, with lots of lily pads and overhanging brush, contains lots of fish and several different fish species. The fish species include some jumbo largemouth bass, some jumbo black crappie that smack bass anglers surface lures, yellow perch, rock bass, pumpkinseed sunfish, brown bullhead catfish and planted rainbow trout. Dolloff Lake is open to year around fishing.
Public access is provided by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. The large access area has lots of parking space, pit toilets and a nice concrete block boat launching ramp. No internal combustion engines are allowed on this peaceful little lake so you won't be bothered by hot rodders and water skiers. Bob Johansen

271 acre lake on the west side of lake Chelan, hike in from Lucerne. Holds rainbow and cutthroat. Has cabins to rent as well as boats. At 2,181 feet of elevation, this 271-acre lake contains both rainbow and cutthroat trout. The lake is accessed by Trail 1280 (3 miles) from Lucerne, with a net gain of approximately 1,000 feet, or by amphibious plane from Chelan (20 minutes, per one of its passengers).
According to Sid (who lives and rents boats on the lake), the lake was barren when discovered; however, it was planted with native Lake Chelan cutthroat and a steelhead strain. It has been since planted with rainbows. Both the Lake Chelan Cutthroat and the rainbows are self-sustaining. The lake is deep (90 feet, per Sid) and clear. The shoals are narrow; maybe five to ten feet on average, with sharp drop offs. Light penetration and vegetation is about 20 feet down or more because of the clarity of the water. Mike MacGregor

LAKE DONALD: After Loch Eileen I hiked and scrambled 3/4 of a mile uphill to an absolutely gorgeous destination called Lake Donald. The small, deep lake was full of agressive cutthroat trout averaging 8 to 11 inches. In less than an hour I hooked 13 cutts ( 9 of which were caught and released from the single barbless hooked lures I was casting). Surrounded by green pine and golden larch trees, this was a wonderful place to visit. The round trip mileage from the High Camp to Lake Donald (including fishing at Lake Julius and Loch Eileen) was about 7 1/2 miles. J Kruse
Dorena Reservoir

Type: Freshwater Lake

A reservoir of 1,840 acres located about seven miles east of Cottage Grove. Row River Road goes along the north side of the reservoir and Government Road along the south side. Dorena has rainbow and cutthroat trout as well as largemouth bass and brown bullheads. A few black crappies and bluegills are also taken and all of the fish species present reach good size. Unfortunately, in the last couple of years, yellow perch have become established in Dorena and they will almost certainly impact the other fish species. In western Oregon, yellow perch almost always out-compete crappies reducing their average size and numbers. P Heley

This is a large Alpine Lake of 290 acres at 3052 feet. It holds rainbows. Its about 8 miles from Skykomish and takes about 2 miles to hike into. The hike is about 600 feet in elevation gain, a bit hard in some spots but not too bad. Towering granite cliffs with numerous elevated views make this a treat to hike to.

Downs Lake (225 acres): Anglers can count on largemouth bass, perch, and other warmwater fish here, along with stocked rainbow trout. Downs warms up earlier than other area lakes because it's located in the southwest corner of the county (partially in Lincoln County).

Skamania County’s Drano Lake is located about 7 miles west of the town of White Salmon. It covers about 220 surface acres and is an enlargement of the mouth of the Little White Salmon River. It lies at 72 feet of elevation and was created by the backwaters of the Bonneville Dam. It is connected to the Bonneville Pool and hosts most of the same fish. Probably the most popular fish species are the salmon and summer steelhead. There is a public access area with a nice concrete launching ramp. The access area becomes very crowded at times during the spring.

Drunken Charlie is about a 1 1/2 acre lake located in the sub-alpine
(if that) reaches of the lower cascades, east of Duvall. This lake is quite a "sinkhole" and drops off quickly from the shoreline to what I've heard is over 45' at its maximum depth. Holds rainbows Tyler Laurenti

Chelan County's Dry Lake covers 77 surface acres and has a maximum depth of only 11 feet. Fish species include lunker sized largemouth bass, nice sized crapppie, yellow perch, bluegill and brown bullhead catfish. This lake is best fished in the Spring and early Summer before the aquatic weeds get too thick. Public access is from a rough road side site suited for hand carried craft only. To get there from the town of Chelan, travel northwest on Highway #150 for 6.4 miles to Wapato Lake Road. Turn right onto Wapato Lake Road for about three miles to the Kanei Resort on the west end of Wapato Lake. Turn sharp left onto Dry Lake Road for about .6 mile to rough road side parking and boat launch area.

Dry Falls Lake (99 acres): This lake should provide good-to-excellent fishing for yearling rainbow trout and some large carry-overs. Brown trout may make up 5-10 percent of the catch. A one-fish limit and selective fishery regulations are in effect. The lake is accessible with car-topped boats, but there is no actual launch. Toilets are available.

Dusty Lake is a small, 30 acre lake that holds rainbows and brown trout. It is part of the Quincy W.R.A. and can be reached seven miles SW of the town of Quincey. A trail leads from Burke lake 1/2 mile to Dusty.
There are two ways to get to Dusty Lake in the Quincy WRA. The short way is to hike a short but steep half mile to the east end of the lake. The "scenic" way is to hike a solid three miles of flat sagebrush country to the west end of the lake. John Kruse

Echo Lake (16 acres): Located 2 miles southeast of Highway 522 near Maltby, Echo has a state access on the east side with parking, boat ramp and toilets. It is stocked with catchable-size rainbow trout in the spring, but trout growth is poor due to a large sunfish population.

The watershed is 172 acres and is about 65% developed. There is a public boat access on the east side of the lake. Gas powered boats are not permitted. Snohomish Water Management Division
