Went out to my uncles cabin on eloika lake to do some ice fishin, tagging along was my girlfriend (never ice fished before) we headed out on the ice i dug some holes about 250 yards NE of jerry's landing. after sittin for and hour my girlfriend starts to get cold so i as i get ready to pack it in she hooks into the first fish of the day a nice little yellow perch she was stoked cause at this point i still hadn't even had a nibble. she re baited and instantly caught another one so we kept fishin for a bit. then her line starts screamin out of the reel.. she has one and its a monster but as fast as it hit it was gone, no chance bringing that big of fish in on a two foot micro light so we went inside for diner. bellies full we headed back out same holes as before cuz it was rainin and i didn't foresee us being out that much longer. then BAM her poll bends in half and she starts reelin like crazy i see the fish's mouth come thro the hole then SNAP the line broke so without thinkin i lunge toward the hole and threw my arm down the hole and grabbed the fish by the gills...when i pulled out the nearly seven pound bass my gf started jumping and screaming. it was a wonderful way to end a perfect day of fishing

Hey GIRL, What a catch even more so because it was a team effort. Cool job you two. KUDOS for sharing the sport of fishing together.
IF I recall right, I most likely kept my first fish thru the ICE. Great smile on the lucky fisher...woman's face.
Hope you two get out there again soon.
Be safe and enjoy

Ya nice fish, i have been fishing Eloika hard for the last 4 years and cought several hundred bass most between 2-5lbs never one over 6. Very very nice fish. I bet that one had some good jeans(whatever i can;t spell it)for the future. Hope it tasted real good because that is hard for some ppl. to see it in the house like that and not in a pic. on the lake. Anyhow, good job that is a fish of a lifetime for some ppl. Later.

Nice fish what did you use to catch that hog? and jerry's scale is pretty accurate so if he said it weighed that much then it probably did way to go. It;'s hard for me to catch something that big in the middle of summer let alone winter!!!

Hey stigman87
Just want to say, DON"T let narrow minded negative comments put ya off from the great sport of fishing AND being Able to eat your catch if it is legal and you choose to do so. Every one perceives the world differently, and by their perception, can say some hurtful things to others how have a different perception. I thinks it's great you get out there fishing (and take friends and family) and so what if you decide to eat what YOU catch once in a while. It's not like you're going to make a Lifetime commitment to catch and consume Large Bass. As time passes and you get further down the road of life, some of your perceptions will change as has those of others. So, stigman87, get out there and enjoy the sport, and continue to introduce others to your fishing adventures.

Do you have any idea how many years it took for those bass to get that size? I mean man, next time put em back - let some one else enjoy them, give me a call and I'll buy you a fish dinner. Big bass taste like crap anyways....
