Took off to Eloika afterwork to see how much of the lake was effected by the recent vegetation kill off. Arrived at the public launch @ 5:30pm, was somewhat breezy, water temps in the low 80's. You could visually see the area's where the vegetation was absent, the boat lauch was clear and no cabbage hanging from my boat trailer! You could smell the chemical they used, very strong odor, I wouldn't eat any fish from this lake for awhile. We trolled along the south part of the lake, even though there were some clearings we still had difficulty navigating through the cabbage that was there. We were using plastics and top waters (did you hear that Bazzdude, topwaters). Caught and missed a few, wife caught a few largies and crappie using a small jig, she now holds the family record for smallest Bass! Tim, the one I'm holding is for you, check out the "topwater" buzzbait! :)

Nice report, told ya the top water is the way to go.I bet it hit it hard too. did you see any dead bass out there? I am going to go out this evening since i have both my 1 and 2 year olds to watch all by myself this weekend. I was woundering if anyone had any suggestions for my outing this evening in my small 12 aluminum boat? Ok, keep on posting ilivetofish and stay safe out there.

Sorry Tim, I've always caught bigger Bass with plastics, as you witnessed at Lake Spokane. Anyways, didn't see any dead bass out there, and wasn't able to get close to the edges, the dollar lillie invasion has halted access to the big lillies, unless you have an airboat, or you like stopping every 5 feet to clean off your trolling motor, even my weedless blade was no use! I'll be waiting for your post this evening holding a big one! :) Happy Fishing! Oh, if you want to catch some Browns (not sure if I would eat one though), toss a worm and a bobber out by the stream flowing into the area by the boat lauch, or if you have a fly pole...
