Mosquito Repellant
Mosquito Repellant
Heading to Potholes first weekend of June. Did it last year and the skeeters were ungodly and almost seemed attracted to the OFF! w/ deet. I sprayed some on the side of my truck and they swarmed right to it!
Any suggestions or recommendations for these buggers? Sprays, scents, candles?

burn a small fire and take the charcoal rubb it on your neck wrist and knees
RE:Mosquito Repellant
I had this same problem last year, just switch brands. I cant remember what we switched to but it worked. I think we were using the spray stuff and it didn't work, but then we used the aresol type and that did the trick.

Shelf life may come into play also, especially with pump sprays. That reminds me, I need to buy new stock.

Eat Garlic alot.It works for fleas too.Ive even rubbed fresh cloves on me. When they are out there in mass, not alot is foolproof. They find skin thats untreated.
When youre up to your rear end in alligators, its hard to remember that the initial plan was to drain the swamp.
RE:Mosquito Repellant
Researchers for the powerbait companies say deet is suppose to be bad for fishing as the fish do not like it but works great on the bugs.

Try this stuff. I used it when I was hiking through the jungle in Thailand a couple of years back and didn't get a single mosquito bite. You can get it cheaper (tax free if I remember correctly) if you go to one of the King County Public Health Centers that do travel vaccinations and consultations.

Long sleeves, long pants and bug netting for my hat/face. If necessary, I apply a DEET product, like Muskol, to any remaining exposed skin and am good to go. There are plenty of companies that make full length warm weather clothes, just remember to protect you feet as well! As an added benefit, you won't need nearly as much sunscreen either. As a side note: DEET works great when used correctly. Read the directions on the container, they are there for a reason. If it says to re-apply after contact with water or heavy sweating then you'd better do it or risk becoming a insect feeding station.

spot on. DEET is terrible for the environment, but works great on bugs. Use a SMALL amount, I've had the same 2 oz. bottle of muskol(100% DEET) for about 10 years, no joke. One drop does both arms (t-shirt), but like G-man said, properly clothed one-two drops should take care of everything exposed. Clothing is best.

And I have heard that dryer sheets really work. When camping a fire always helps. Off! Deep Woods is the best spay you can get. Contains the most Deet. Other than that just cover up as much as possible.

Yah I just saw those things on TV the other day and thought they looked like they might be handy for fishing.
