Making some "Larry Dahlberg" style bottom fishing spinnerbait rigs....heavy leadhead, bicycle spoke,
you've inspired me to create my own...
I just made this out of stuff in my garage last knight and its by no means perfect. I don't like to spend a long time on creating bottomfishing lures because I know from experience you can lose the lure you spent an hour on in less than a minute.also lingcod are not all that picky. I'm hoping that it is the correct weight because if its too heavy I'll have to retreive it too fast in order to keep off bottom but if too light it will not sink fast enough and will not hold bottom on a steady retrieve.

supplies
1. 3oz leadhead
2. 8in grub
3. bike spoke
4. swivel and split ring
5. large spinner blade

You guys rule! As a rookie to puget sound fishing out of Everett, I have searched and searched for anyone to give some advice on where and how to fish this area. I know fishermen like to keep their secret spots/techniques near and dear to their hearts so it makes it that much more for for us newbies to be able to join the team.
Thanks again!!

Fishingboy,
Any hints are where I might catch my first one? I launch out of Everett in a 21ft cuddy bayliner. I caught my first ever fish out of puget sound last year (my buddy said it was called a rat fish). When I pulled it in, other boaters passing us by yelled for me to use it as ling bait. Didn't make sense to me cause this thing was pretty damn close to being a foot long. But, I tried. No luck.

I'm thinking about trying halibut for the first time as well this year. I think it opens next week in Everett. Just not sure where to start ya know? No matter what, a day of being on the water and not catching a thing but a buzz is better than a day on land anytime!

Normally I only fish once a year in Astoria for Sturgeon and now I'm hearing that it's possible to catch one out by priest point. Hmmm, maybe I'll actually spend some time out on the sound doing more than crabbing this year.

Any tips of course is always appriciated.

Thanks for tips Swede! Rookie fisherman here to Puget sound so I won't mess around and wonder off the path too much for. Chicken size butts sound good to me. Just looking and hoping to catch my first one this year!

The Shrimping looks like fun too. Looks like I get to play on the sound this year and see what's out there! Yahooooo
