RE:pinks are coming
thats a good start time
The pinks arent worth targeting go after the big 20+lb line screaming drag ripping kings.
Pinks are scarce right now as they have not moved all the way down yet.

cool, that's actually the plan. we are rigged for Kings 1st, pinks 2nd if we happen to limit, get bored, or catch pinks by accident...
so starting depth for kings, 125' per the Swede....? cupcake lures optional.

RE:pinks are coming
I know one of the guides that fishes off there.
Stay in 125-145 feet of water and stay 10 feet or less off the bottom.
Check gear often as flounder are thick
If kings dont pan out move out to 400-600 feet of water and fish dodgers and mini green hoochies 60 feet off the riggers for some resident coho.

Don't stick with a set depth. EVERY area fishes different. I fish an 80-110 foot shelf but less than a mile away I fish in 140ft plus, usually always pounding the bottom half of the column...Dustin07 wrote:cool, that's actually the plan. we are rigged for Kings 1st, pinks 2nd if we happen to limit, get bored, or catch pinks by accident...

Pinks are slowly trickling through, the first push is still a few weeks out...
Better off working the upper column for resident coho...
Don't chase reports...Be the report others chase....

RE:pinks are coming
Anyone have a good spot up north for the pinks (8-1, 7)? With the hundreds of thousands expected at the Skagit R., I'm thinking Hope Is. or there abouts. If I could cut off a few of the million heading to the Frazer R., BC that might be an option as well. Any thoughts? Or maybe just stick to the River, and not even bother with the salt??
I have caught many fish in my life. The most exciting? The next one.....

RE:pinks are coming
Give it two weeks or so fellas.
They are slowly being taken out there in Area 10 off Jefferson head, but only by accident from folks fishing for the Kings.

RE:pinks are coming
must still be moving pretty slow. we took in over 20 Flounder on Saturday hitting JH hard for 7 hrs or so but only two tiny silvers, nothing worth keeping. no pinks or Kings. At the docks I only saw/heard of 4 small ones taken, i thought they were coho but can't remember.
RE:pinks are coming
Creel reports say lots at Hoodsport shore with 50 and 56 anglers. Pt Def had one and Redondo 2.

Look for Wannafish A Lure on FaceBook
He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

I agree with Curado. I know they fish for them from shore at Deception Pass State Park so I am guessing you could do well trolling right out in front of the State Park there. Let us know how you do if you fish that area. I'm curious.
RE:pinks are coming
i am curious as well. because the pass should act like a funnel

Yeah Dave, I think I'm gonna try it at least once. We'll see. I want to get in on the pinks this year (first shot at any in the salt)) and don't want to drive all the way to 8-2 or 9. I was thinking more towards Hope, It always gets a little dicey for me fishing right near the pass.Dave wrote:
