Fiorito

County: Kittitas
Type: Freshwater Lake
Reports: 103

Another good bet in Kittitas county are the Fiorito Lakes, they are located
just south of Ellensburg and you can see them if you are travelling on I-82
towards Yakima, they are on your left as well. There are two lakes located
there, the North has predominantly been the better producer, but the south
is starting to pick up as well now. They are stocked with the same fish as
Matoon lake, only more. Some big brown can be found in these lakes, and
the best time to catch them is in the fall, you can also entice these big
browns in the early mornings and late evenings. The game department has
also stocked Fiorito with the Brute stock rainbows averaging 6-10 pounds.
There are more bass in these two lakes, especially the south lake. The
trout tend to average about 11-15 inches. There is really no boat launch
here and gas motors are prohibited. Both Fiorito and Matoon are my top
picks for smaller lakes in Kittitas County.Tim Williams

Fish lake is about 500 acres and is one mile NE of Lake Wenatchee. It holds rainbows, brown, and eastern brook trout. Also perch, small and largemouth bass. The boat launch will only handle small cartoppers. Huge rocks prevent anything trailered which is a shame and the launch is quite steep.

King County’s Fish lake is located about 1 ½ miles S.W. from Cumberland. It covers about 16 ½ surface acres, reaches depths of about 22 feet and lies at an elevation of 720 feet. The water level varies considerably from spring through fall. Fish species include rainbow and cutthroat trout and largemouth bass. I have fished it a couple times, quite successfully for the bass. Prime bass habitat includes lots of flooded willows during the high water of spring and mostly aquatic weeds and a few old logs during the summer. Public access is provided by the Department of Fish and Wildlife. The small access area has limited parking space and a dirt-gravel launch area during the high water levels of spring. As the water level drops during the summer, boat launching can be almost impossible until the exposed, muddy lake bottom dries out. Bob Johansen

King County’s Fivemile Lake is located about 4 miles S.W. of the town of Auburn. It covers about 38 surface acres, reaches depths of about 32 feet and lies at an elevation of 400 feet. Fish species include rainbow trout, largemouth bass, yellow perch, black crappie, bluegill and sunfish.
Prime bass habitat in this stained water lake includes lots of pads, overhanging brush and trees, and a few private docks – And the big fishing dock at the county park.
Public access is through the Fivemile Lake County Pak. The park provides paved parking spaces, modern restrooms, picnic tables and a large fishing dock. Hand carried boats must be dragged or carried about 150 yards from the parking lot to waters edge. I always launched my canoe at the southeast end of the lake. There is very limited roadside parking along Military Road but it is much closer to waters edge.
