County: Okanogan
Type: Freshwater Lake

Sidley Lake (116 acres): Sidley is located near Molson, less than a mile from the Canadian border. It should provide good quality rainbows in the 12- to 13-inch range, with carry-overs up to 18 inches. A new aerator has been installed, so improved trout survival should mean better fishing. About 13 miles east north east of Oroville at 3,679 feet in elevation lies 120-acre Sidley Lake. The lake has no significant tree cover and is open to public access only from its north bank (unless you have water craft): the other sides are privately owned. The lake is shallow (approximately 20-30 feet deep) and planted with rainbows, which now grow up to three to five pounds thanks to an installed aerator and an abundant food supply. Adjacent Molson Lake, planted with rainbows, is subject to winterkill annually because it does not have an aerator. Mike MacGregor

2,996 acres: This large lake is reached off I-5 going east on Hwy 504 to the west end of the lake. Public access is just past Kerr Rd. There is a boat launch there as well as several resorts in the area. The lake is shallow with abundant lilly pads and weeds for fast growing fish. Spiny rays with large mouth bass reported to 10lbs. The lake also has planted rainbows. With four islands and miles of shoreline the lake will give you plenty to explore. A nice view of Mt Saint Helens and a "no wake" zone help to make Silver lake a quality fishing experience. Brush and logs in the lake should help the crappie fishing. John Robert Del Monte

Silver Lake is situated on the east side of the town of Medical Lake. There is a north and south end, but this info is for the south end only, see the North Silver Lake listing for that body of water. WDFW replaced the aging concrete block ramp in 2009 and the update included new launch ramps, launch dock/loading platform, and a separate fishing dock. The new launch provides for two lane launch and recovery. Silver Lake is fairly large, has numerous species to offer anglers, and is open year round. Species found include Perch, Crappie, Bluegill, Rainbow trout, Brown trout, Largemouth bass, Tiger Muskie, and Tench. There were reports of brown bullhead in years past. WDFW currently has size and quantity limits in force for two species: Crappie - minimum 9” with a 10 fish daily limit; and Tiger Muskie – minimum 50” and a one fish daily limit. Statewide rules apply for all other species, but review the most current copy of WDFW Sportfishing Rules Pamphlet for any changes. In addition to fishing, Silver Lake is also very popular for all kinds of water sports, swimmers, tubers, water skiers, sailboating, jet skis, and more. During warm weather, the lake can get rough from all the watercraft activity and congested too, so it’s wise to plan ahead. Silver Lake access is convenient. From I-90 east or west bound, take the Four Lakes – Medical Lake exit and go south on SR 904 for about ¼ mile. Turn right onto to West Four Lakes – Medical Lake Road and follow this for about 3 miles. Turn left onto S. Freeman Drive to reach the WDFW access site. Thanks to Phil C for this overview.

Klickitat County’s Spearfish Lake is located about one mile N.W. from the Dalles Dam. It is fed by Fivemile Creek and was formed in 1956 by seepage from the Dalles Dam. The lake covers about 22 acres, reaches depths of about 20 feet and lies at an elevation of 160 feet. Fish species include planted rainbow trout and should provide some excellent fishing opportunities on opening day. The lake also is stocked with some brood stock and jumbo rainbows. It is reported that one angler, Mike Martucci, landed a 29 ½ inch triploid rainbow from this lake that weighed 10 pounds even. Spearfish Lake is sometimes very popular with opening day anglers with as many as 150 rigs reported showing up to fish. Most anglers use paddle powered water craft or electric motors on this little lake but I saw no restrictions on outboard engines. If you do use an outboard motor, please be considerate of fellow anglers. There is a public access with a concrete boat launching ramp and a pit toilet. Shoreline angling is available around the entire lake. Camping is permitted at the lake with a 4 day limit. There few camping amenities other than the pit toilet. Little Spearfish Lake is nearby and provides good fishing opportunities for smallmouth bass. Overview and photos by: Bob Johansen
