Tim's Pond is located west of Yakima on Highway 12, about two or three miles west of the intersection with Highway 410. It's in a strip of land between the highway and the Tieton River, and is often used by rafting and whitewater enthusiasts as a parking place. It's a fairly popular family-outing spot for the locals, too. I wouldn't call it a serious fishing-trip destination, but on my way back from other places, I've stopped there to tease the minnows with a dry fly. Karl S

Contains brook and brown trout, and is self-sustaining. The lake is at 3,722 feet and lies about a mile south of the Canadian border within the Mt. Baker Snoqualmie National Forest. From Highway 542 East, drive five miles up Forest Road 3065 to the trailhead. The hike is reported as four miles; yet it seems like more since you climb from 3680 feet at the trailhead to 5400 feet to the summit of Gold Pass Run. Then its downhill to the lake at 3722 feet for the next half. The first half of this second leg requires dropping approximately 1000 feet in less than a mile to Coyote Flat. Mike MacGregor

King County' little Trout Lake covers 18 surface acres and has a maximum depth of about 27 feet. Fish species include large-mouth bass, yellow perch, crappie, bluegill, bullhead catfish and planted rainbow trout. This lake is best fished from a boat. The small street end access has very little room to maneuver a tow rig and trailer. This is a fun lake to fish and contains some real hefty largemouth bass. It also contains some lunker crappie. Pierce County’s Lake Twenty Seven is located about 4 miles north from Eatonville and only about 500 feet west from Clear Lake. It covers 21 surface acres, has mostly quite shallow depths and lies at 776 feet of elevation. I have had the opportunity to fish this little lake a couple of times from a canoe and caught largemouth bass to 12 inches and crappie up to 9 inches. It has been several years since I fished this lake so access may be in question. Bob Johansen
