Keechelus Fishing Reports

This 2,560 acre reservoir is located three miles east of Snoqualmie Pass taking the Coal Creek exit to boat launch. There is also ample shore fishing on the north side of the lake which I-90 parallels. The lake is at an elevation of 2,520 feet so fishing doesn't warm up until a little later in the summer, but to compensate the action should be better due to a shorter "growing" season for the fish. Keechelus holds Kokanee, Rainbows, Dolley Varden and Bull Trout (both closed to fishing this year). There is also fresh water ling (Burbot) available. The lake is very scenic with rugged Cascade peaks rising all around and fortunately not too much clear-cutting (although there is some). There is a nice concrete boat launch (no pier) with good parking and at the same location a road which runs into the lake and could also be used to launch boats at.
