Bennington Lake (formerly Mill Creek Reservoir): This popular impoundment receives a large annual plant of catchable-size rainbow trout when water levels allow. High runoff and turbidity have delayed plants this year until mid- to late-April. Good bank access and boat launch ramp, but internal combustion engines are prohibited.

Black Lake is a lightly fished Gem in the Pasayten Wilderness about 25 miles N.of Winthrop Wa. See Delorme Wash. State Atlas and Gazetteer p.113, grid B7.The roads are paved nearly to the trailhead w/about 3mi.good gravel. The trail is well maintained and very moderate, but no water that I would drink so take plenty. The lake is full of RB that go to 16",but most 10-11'. It also has Bull Trout (Dolly Varden) which must be released (on the endangered list.) There are no Brook Trout, so don't mistake the dollies for brook. I was getting skunked pulling various small nymphs on a wet cell II. There were so many fish rising in the crystal clear lake I decided I might be fishing below them. So I switched to the dry line and light tippet casting a griffiths gnat in #16 & 18. That works as would any small midge or emerger. The fish were very surface feed oriented both days, so I'm not sure what else might work. Didn't catch any dollies. The lake is very pretty and has several nice spots along the trail that follows the E. shore all along the lake. I think the lake is all native from natural spawn, so keep a couple for dinner and putthe rest back. July 10-11-00 Ron S

Pacific County’s Black Lake is located about ½ mile north of the town of Ilwaco. It covers 30 surface acres, is mostly quite shallow and lies at an elevation of 25 feet. Fish species include rainbow trout, largemouth bass, yellow perch and brown bullhead catfish. Public access is provided by the county park on the east side of the lake. I fished the lake one time and was able to catch a few small largemouth bass up to about 10 inches. By Bob Johansen I would like to add to the info for Black Lake that there is a primitive boat launch on the east side of the lake acessed by a road that runs across the north shore of the lake to the east side. The launch about half way down the east side. The lake has some trouphy size trout ( not trips) stocked by the Nasal Youth Camp hatchery. The lake hooks to southeast and I've had good luck with worms and white gulp eegs inthe pocket. I usualy take home 2 to 3 10" or better fish with at least one in the 15" range in 2 to 3 hours of fishing. By John Gleason

Not only is Black Pine Lake a beautiful place, 10.6 miles Northwest of Twisp, Washington, but the fishing was good even off the two piers. We found fresh popcorn shrimp worked well, although the feeding cycle left short windows of biting activity mainly in the morning 9 to 11 a.m. then around 2 p.m. and again at dusk. Only catch was Brookies with great color in the 8 to 11 inch range. The road is paved the first 4 miles, then smooth but dusty the remaining trip. Take water the well needs repair. Three tent sites, and around 16 camping sites. Camp Host at times but there is a $5.00 drop box for your camping permit. Enjoy! Steve Editor's Note: Black Pine holds planted eastern brook and is 18 acres.

After a strong 2 hour hike into Blanca we were rewarded with great views and even greater fishing. Numerous 8" to 10" trout were biting small dark roostertail spinners, a few flies, and small spoons. We fished the outlet stream and the runoff stream at the head of the lake and had good luck at both locations. Runoff from the Columbia glacier fed two small streams one clear one not so clear. The prior was filled with dark Rainbows biting on size 18 Adams and Mosquitoes. Fish this stream at the huge boulder just up from the mouth. Very few bugs. Wonderful wildflowers: lupine, heather, daisies, and columbine. Very little snow. Have a great time! Tony Robinson
