Umatilla Fishing Reports

Umatilla Lake is actually the John Day Dam Reservoir on the Columbia River. The huge reservoir covers 52,000 surface acres and reaches depths of 145 feet. The reservoir contains many different fish species including Largemouth bass, Smallmouth bass, Walleye, rainbow trout, and salmon and steelhead during the summer and fall. Good access onto Umatilla Lake can be found at Crow Butte State Park. The launch ramp at the park can handle most fishing boats and the park provides a nice place to camp for a night or even a few days. Bob Johansen
