County: Kittitas
Type: Freshwater Lake
Reports: 21

Rating:

This 2,560 acre reservoir is located three miles east of Snoqualmie Pass taking the Coal Creek exit to boat launch. There is also ample shore fishing on the north side of the lake which I-90 parallels. The lake is at an elevation of 2,520 feet so fishing doesn't warm up until a little later in the summer, but to compensate the action should be better due to a shorter "growing" season for the fish. Keechelus holds Kokanee, Rainbows, Dolley Varden and Bull Trout (both closed to fishing this year). There is also fresh water ling (Burbot) available. The lake is very scenic with rugged Cascade peaks rising all around and fortunately not too much clear-cutting (although there is some). There is a nice concrete boat launch (no pier) with good parking and at the same location a road which runs into the lake and could also be used to launch boats at.

There is a solid but quite shallow boat launching area that is best suited for hand carried water- craft and roadside parking that is limited but usually adequate. To get there from Marysville, travel north on I-5 to the Smokey Point exit (Exit #206). Turn left (west) back across the freeway and follow 172nd St. N.E. Type: Freshwater Lake
Reports: 1
Bathymetric Maps: 0
Rating:

This large reservoir of more than 4,000 acres produces good fishing for kokanee, landlocked chinook salmon and rainbow, bull and brown trout. BillyChinook produces the heaviest bull trout and landlocked chinook salmon in Oregon and also produces some lunker rainbows and browns. The kokanee fishery is more known for its numbers than for the average size of its fish. Billy Chinook also offers excellent fishing for smallmouth bass up to two pounds with catches approaching 100 fish a day not that unusual. There are smaller numbers of largemouth bass and bluegills have recently become established in the reservoir. Undoubtedly, there are or will be some brown bullheads and black crappies in the reservoir that have migrated down out of Prineville Reservoir. Also known as BILLY CHINOOK LAKE and ROUND BUTTE RESERVOIR. P Heley
